本課程將運用比較文學的研究方法探討日本近世(江戶時代)文學的特質，特別是以中國通俗小說在江戶時代的流傳情形與其對<雨月物語>等江戶「讀本」文學的影響為主要探討對象。
在日本江戶時代，中國通俗白話小説相當流行，廣受大眾歡迎，並且對日本近世散文文學的主流—「讀本」―的形成，產生極大的影響。在課程中，首先由本人簡要的講授中國白話小説在日本流行的原因、散播的途徑、以及對日本知識份子和「讀本」文學所造成的影響，並闡明「上方讀本」和「江戸讀本」的形成過程、二者各自的特徴與異同、以及中國通俗小說在讀本文學整體的演變過程中的作用。此一部分的講解將由本人提供講義,建議參考書籍。之後，擬以「讀本」的代表作『雨月物語』為主要研讀教材。上課採取教師扼要講解相關知識、資料後,由選修同學輪流發表、討論(本人側面指導補充),最後由學生提交報告一篇的方式進行。




This course studies Japanese literature in modern times (the Times of Edo), especially the reception of Vernacular Chinese Fiction in that time and its influence on Edo Yomihon Literature.
In the times of Edo, Vernacular Chinese Fiction was quite popular and thus played an important role in shaping yomihon, the mainstream of Japanese Prose Literature in the early modern period. In the Introduction, the author presents the reasons for the popular reception of vernacular Chinese Fiction in Japan and describes its spread, and finally discusses its impact on intellectuals in Japan as well as Japanese Literature. Moreover, kamigata-yomihon and edo-yomihon will be compared and contrasted in the aspects of formation process, characteristics, and similarities /differences. This part of the lecture materials will be handouts offered by the teacher; then, according to the representative work of yomihon--Ugetsu monogatari, the students have to discuss and bring up issues in turn, with the teacher`s guidance.
